This 90-minute DRY RUN workshop seeks to create awareness for

Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, and Leaders

On the importance of taking a

Systemic Approach in

Change & Scale

Overview

Scrum Masters are team coaches and are usually focused on the team or the team as a system.

To scale, or implement change, we usually rely on process to bring order and coordination and while inspection and adaption help continual alignment, these two elements are not generative in themselves.

Scrum Masters protect the team from the system, which at scale becomes a systemic anti-pattern causing harm to client relationships and delivery at scale. Some say that the Product Owner carries the burden of Client engagement and systems thinking, leaving the team to focus inward with selective systemic exposure in events like reviews.

Scrum Masters usually launch the team using frameworks that either lack systemic orientation, or that are not used with systemic awareness. Lacking in this area creates systemic challenges that turn the team into a complex problem for the organization to try and solve. Systemic coaching is an emerging discipline that offers insight into better ways of orientating the team to the system.

This focuses on both ways of being (left) and ways of doing (right) where left trumps right. Systemic orientation focuses on relationship and process, the former being the leading change and scale agent that always naturally seeks the qualities of Agility.
